Mike Rutherford
Chief Executive Officer - New Zealand

Mike is a highly revered executive with over 40 years' experience in the security industry. He has worked for both large corporate and small owner-operator businesses, and brings a wealth of experience to First Security and to our clients.

Mike has led First Security for the past 10 years. Under his guidance the business has experienced significant growth and is now firmly cemented as New Zealand's leading security provider.

​In 2014 Mike was elected a Life Member of the New Zealand Security Association; a prestigious honour which reinforces his standing as one of the most highly respected managers in the industry.

Brian Switalla
National Business Manager

​With more than 34 years of industry experience Brian joined First Security in 2005 as Auckland Regional Manager and in 2010 was appointed to his current role as National Business Manager.

Having extensive operational and managerial security experience with a national knowledge of the industry, Brian understands all facets of security service delivery within New Zealand.

Brian holds the Professional Security Officers Certificate of Competence issued by the New Zealand Security Association.

David Seadon
National Manager - Custodial Services

​Joining First Security in 2002, David brings with him more than 20 years' of experience within the security industry in both England and NZ.

With previous experience in prisoner transport, David was formerly responsible for managing approximately 50,000 prisoner movements per year. In 2014 this depth of knowledge saw David appointed National Manager- Custodial Services, where he manages the prisoner escort and court custodial services contract as well as the electronic monitoring of offenders contracts.

​David uses his exceptional skills in complex and strategic problem solving, negotiation and critical analytical thinking to consistently deliver results.

Stephen Mitchell
National Operations & Compliance

​A seasoned security professional with more than 37 years' experience within the industry, Stephen joined First Security in 2009.

As National Manager Operations & Compliance, Stephen is responsible for the auditing and compliance country-wide, covering all aspects of branch operations from employment to health and safety.

​In addition to this Stephen is also the First Security Fleet Manager, managing in excess of 160 vehicles nationally.

Stephen is a qualified trainer of the New Zealand Security Industry Mandatory Training.
