At FIRST Security, we are very proud of our partnership with Ara Poutama Aotearoa, the Department of Corrections, working together to help protect the public of New Zealand.  

We have been providing Prisoner Escort and Courtroom Custodial Services (PECCS), a service unique in Aotearoa, for the past 25 years, working together to help reduce reoffending and protect the public from harm.

Our PECCS team play an integral role as a supporting function, to not just the Department of Corrections, the Police, and Ministry of Justice, but most importantly, first and foremost we are dealing with the people in our care.

Throughout our relationship with Ara Poutama Aotearoa, we have worked together to respond to challenges, innovate and improve the service.

After many years of manual systems, we recognised a need for a digital software solution to monitor and share information of people in our care, both whilst being escorted and during courtroom custody supervision. 

Hence, came the development of Pou Whakahaumaru - our efficiency solution developed specifically for Ara Poutama Aotearoa.

This digital solution has been designed to provide a user friendly and seamless method to request the movement of a prisoner between facilities or to assist in the management of a prisoner in court.

Pou Whakahaumaru ensures that all services are reported transparently in “real-time” to our PECCS Management Team, Ara Poutama Aoteroa and our stakeholders.
